Doctoral Internship In Clinical Psychology

Colorado CBT offers a one-year, full time doctoral level internship program in the areas of diagnosis, psychological assessment, intervention, supervision, and consultation. Training takes place in a large private practice in Denver, CO, offering training and educational opportunities in clinical psychology. The program is based on 2,000 hours of supervised experience, 40-hours per week, for 12 months, and provides 2 hours of didactics and 2 hours of individual supervision per week. Interns spend an average of 15-25 hours of face-to-face time with clients per week. The program begins in July and is completed one year later. Doctoral interns in the 2024-2025 cohort receive competitive compensation and time-off for sick days and vacation.

The 12-month internship program is designed to be flexible, ensuring competence, personal growth, self-awareness, and resilience in interns as they navigate the complexities of human behavior and psychological disorders. The program cultivates a commitment to lifelong learning, ethical practice, and cultural competence, preparing interns to serve as competent and compassionate psychologists in diverse settings. Interns are expected to become competent in providing psychological services and demonstrating the professional and ethical qualities necessary to become an effective clinical psychologist across various settings.

Program Aims:

  • Accurate assessment & case conceptualization through effective clinical interviewing, differential diagnosis,
    and administration, scoring, and interpretation of a broad range of assessment tools.
  • Utilize the practitioner-scholar model, an advanced educational and operational model that is focused on
    practical application of scholarly knowledge, to address the unique concerns of clients.
  • Provide effective treatment using a variety of evidence-based interventions to address a broad range of
    psychological disorders in various populations.

Doctoral Intern Eligibility Requirements:

  • Interns have satisfactorily completed all academic coursework from a doctoral degree granting program in psychology and must be in good standing with their academic program.
  • Interns must be fluent (verbal and written fluency) in English.
  • Interns do not have any legal history that would prevent licensure or practice in Colorado.
  • Interns are required to provide evidence of malpractice insurance.
